This course is delivered and assessed on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 by TalkSmart Training.

CPR Course Duration: 

Blended & Blended Refresher– Completion of 1 hour of unsupervised pre-course study and 2 hours of face to face training and assessment.

Face to Face Refresher – Completing 2 hours of face to face training and assessment and workplace practical tasks.

Online delivery with face to face practical assessment – self paced online learning with a scheduled      15-minute face to face practical assessment.

HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This CPR workshop is a great introduction to first aid.  This course will teach you what you need to know to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This is developed for existing workers in the industry who may require CPR training or need to update their current first aid certificate. This CPR workshop is a great introduction to first aid. You must be able to demonstrate the following tasks to manage possibilities within your work role. This includes having the knowledge of: State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures including:

  • ARC Guidelines relevant to the provision of CPR
  • safe work practices to minimise risks and potential hazards
  • infection control principles and procedures, including use of standard precautions

Legal, workplace and community considerations, including:

  • awareness of the potential need for stress-management techniques and available support following an emergency situation
  • duty of care requirements
  • demonstrating respectful behaviour towards a casualty
  • knowing your own skills and limitations
  • obtaining consent
  • privacy and confidentiality requirements when treating a casualty
  • knowing the importance of debriefing

Considerations when providing CPR, including:

  • airway obstruction due to body position
  • appropriate duration and cessation of CPR
  • appropriate use of an AED
  • chain of survival
  • standard precautions

Basic anatomy and physiology relating to:

  • response/consciousness
  • upper airway and effect of positional change

Cost: $70 per person,

Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and service provider.

Assessment Requirements:  Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

Entry Requirements: Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

What happens at the course?

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

    • Perform CPR on an infant.

  • Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenario:

    • Perform CPR on an adult.

  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.

Award issued:

The following unit(s) will be awarded to successful participants in this course. The certificate will be issued by Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.
