This course is designed for individuals who work in high-stress environments such as emergency services, healthcare, and other demanding sectors, particularly where shiftwork is a feature of the role. Students will learn about the causes and effects of workplace stress, identify personal stressors and triggers, strategies for managing short- and long-term stress, develop a personalised stress management plan based on your interests and needs. And the importance of seeking help when necessary to build resilience to manage short- and long-term stress It also covers the legal and ethical responsibilities of employers and employees in relation to workplace health and safety (WHS), and the communication and documentation requirements for reporting incidents and hazards related to workplace stress to promote a safe, healthy and supportive work environment and reduce the risk of stress-related illness and injury.

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Must meet English and LLN requirements. The Training Package clearly states:

Reading – to read and understand forms and to make accurate reports

Writing – to accurately record details of children and young people at risk and to make reports using handwritten skills and computer skills

Communication – to communicate appropriately and effectively with children and young people who disclose sensitive information

This course is Self Paced – It is expected students may complete the course within 7-8 hours (depending on experience levels).

Learning content is provided in an online format within the course. The assessment component consists of multiple choice questions, written questions, student self-video assessments and incident report forms.

Please note that all case studies within this course are fictional. As a wide variety of job descriptions and workplace environments exist, case studies may not always cover all types of possible scenarios encountered within your job role or scope of work.

However, these case studies should allow you to identify sources of stress and how they manifest in health and/or community services work environment including managing, adjust strategies and recognise when additional resources and/or support is required for :

  • complex client behaviour (emotional, aggressive, cognitive deficit, non-compliance)
  • grief and loss experienced by workers
  • exposure to stressful working conditions and stressful incidents

A certificate will not be issued until all online work has been completed and an Assessor has conducted the final checks.
